Mindfulness meditation can help in many areas of life!. This includes physical and emotional issues as well as spiritual pursuits!. In some schools of Buddhim, it is taught that mindfulness was the main meditation technique taught by the Buddha!. Mindfulness remains very prevalent today in both the East and the West as a spiritual practice!.

So what happens if your goals are more practical and you don't want to spend your life in a monastery!? Here we can look at physical and emotional issues!. Let's say you have a headache!. Frist of all, your body feels the headache!. Then your mind might start a monologue "Why do I always get headaches!?" or "I don't deserve this!." "Maybe it's not just a headache!. Maybe I should see a doctor!."

This is how the "untrained mind" works!. You have a headache or some emotional setback!. Then the voices in your head creates scenes that make things even worse!.

So the first step in mindfulness meditation is to become aware of this negative chatter!. There are different forms of mindfulness meditation!. One of the basics is following the breath!. Slowly the chatter starts to settle down!. You have more inner silence and calm!. If you have a disagreement with your boss at work, you don't have to create stories about how your boss hates you or you might get fired!. A disagreement was just a disagreement!.

The silent, serene state of mind begins to spread more through your daily life!. It is not something that occurs just when you are sitting and meditating!. In the midst of activity, you can feel serenity!.

In most cases, this transformation does not happen overnight!. I have been meditating for over 10 years and still have my ups and downs!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I do mindfulness when I am nervous or when I am engaged in a repetitive task, or just traveling somewhere!. It helps me focus on the now, which makes me more calm!. It also helps me appreciate my life and my surroundings, such as when I am walking somewhere!. When I sit down and meditate, however, I just try to clear my mind, and I am not very mindful!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
