Ativan is a medicine in the family of drugs called benzodiazepines!. Basically, its in the family with Valium!. It can be sedating for some people though generally it is not excessively so unless it is prescribed at too high a dose!. Its typically used for short term management of anxiety or panic attacks though it can also be used for other things like sleep and alcohol detoxification!. It has some addictive potential but that doesn't mean it will make you an addict!. I would just be mindful if you notice the urge to take it more often or in higher doses than the doctor prescribes and then let him/her know thats happening!.

When I prescribe sedating medication to people for the first time, I usually recommend they take it at home when they know they don't have to do anything important or go anywhere!. This is going to be an issue with you because of the baby though!. I would recommend seeing if you could have a friend or family come over the first time you take it that way if it is too strong, someone is there with the baby!. If you take it and you are fine, then the company will probably not be necessary thereafter!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've had experience getting people off this drug as quite often it is hard to due as there can be side effects!. It can cause all sorts of side effects including insomnia!.

TRy something natural!.

This drug effects your pituitary gland which then effects your adrenal glands which can unbalance your entire hormonal system!. Depending how the individual responsed due to genetic differences can create all sorts of side effects and they can get worse when you try to get off it!.
Don't risk it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
