What is the best type of massage?!

Question: What is the best type of massage!?
I want to surprise my husband with a gift certificate for a massage!. However, I am confused about what would be the best type for him!. I need some advice!. My husband complains of frequent lower back aches!. He has been to back specialist and he is attending physical therapy 2 days a week!. The massage therapy center I plan to buy a gift certificate from offers Swedish massages, deep tissue massages, sports massages and neuromuscular therapy massages!. What would be the best massage for my husband to have!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
If your husband has not had a professional massage before, I always recommend a Swedish for first-timers!. It is also safer than the sports massage!. Swedish is a soothing, flowing, relaxing massage to reduce stress for overall relaxation by applying pressure to the muscles against the deeper muscles and bones, rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart!. Friction is reduced by using oil or baby powder!. The goal is to aid the return of blood from the extremities, increase circulation, remove metabolic wastes and stretch the ligaments and tendons and stimulate the nervous system to relax the body!.
I wouldn't recommend a sports massage for someone with back pain or any injury!. This is active massage to stretch and warm up tissues that are exposed to strenuous exercise!. For the serious athlete who trains hard and long it focuses on the muscles needed for the particular sport and can be used before or after an event to lessen occurrence of injury and reduce recovery time!.
Deep Tissue is very good for injuries, although I don't recommend this for first timers!. It is deep pressure massage to loosen knots and reduce stress by breaking up muscle tightness, slowly working into the deep layers of muscle and releasing congestion in the tissues!. This is a bit uncomfortable at times, but still altered to the patient's tolerance level!.
Neuromuscular Therapy consists of a few different types of massage, my favorite is Trigger Point Therapy!. Trigger Points are "knots" in the muscle that refer pain to other areas such as neck pain that gives the patient a headache!. These "knots" are accumulations of waste and tightness around the muscle fiber and Dr!. Janet Travell mapped and explained the most common patterns for Trigger Point referred pain!.
To eliminate these points, direct constant pressure is applied to the Trigger Point until the nerve and muscle fiber relax!. As the Trigger Point is released, the blood flow is improved and endorphins are released resulting in alleviation of pain and reduced recovery time!.
The patient needs to participate in this therapy by keeping the therapist informed about discomfort level and intensity of pain so the therapist can accurately locate and release these "knots!."
One treatment is not usually sufficient for chronic Trigger Points and the patient may need several sessions!. It is also suggested to stretch the muscles treated to maintain progress and monitor intake of water and vitamins so Trigger Points do not reform!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Probably a sports massage!. However I have a lot of bach aches and went for a swedish massage!. The women who did it asked me some questions on where I have pain and she worked on those areas!.

Your husband might also be helped by doing a few simple stretches everyday!. The massage therapist might be able to give a few suggestions on some good stretches!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
