I need information about massage therapist?!

Question: I need information about massage therapist?
I'd like to hear from someone who has actually been/is in the business, please. (:

well anyways, I'm still in highschool but I've really been thinking about being a massage therapist when i graduate.

I wanna know if they make a lot of money, and is it a hard job?
and is it a hard collage to get into to be a massage therapist?
I basicaly want to know about it all really.

Also, to be honest.. I don't want a hard job for life, i wan't a job thats pays good but nothing I can't handle, you know?

Me and my boyfriend of 7 years have been talking about the future and how were going to handle things.

We both think the same actually. We don't care too much about having expensive things. we want a small house that dosn't cost wayy too much (like a big expensive house would)
and to just live with things we can afford. we don't want a really good car, just a car that can run, ya know? Short story- We're okay living with cheap things, as long as they're not too crappy.

any suggestions on jobs that pay good enough to live through having (MABYE one animal), one kid, and two parents?

And if I'm wrong with anything and not seeing the reality with prices on things, please let me know.

Ironically, this is something I wrote someone earlier today in an email on the subject....

"Those places (massage schools) are a total rip off - they know full well that 98% of the people that go to school for that will never work in the field, they know that of the 2% that do, one will be injured out of work within 2 years (carpal tunnel or thumb injuries usually)...Think about this....that school.... cranked out 75-100 every few months...so in that time, they produced a thousand of them....does it seem reasonable that the population of the city could support a thousand MT's? And that is just one school, there are dozens in the area. Think about the problems you had finding work because there were five schools cranking out a dozen RT's each year

They also pitch that people working in that field make 75 an hour - alright, well think that through....that is if you find a client that wants you to come to the house....which means you are hauling all your stuff around, and have to set up, etc, etc....how many of those do you think a person does in a day? Most therapists who do that sort of work are VERY lucky to have one of those clients a day (which means they are making about the same as someone working minimum wage for that day) the vast majority work for chiropractors and while the chiropractors charge 75 bucks an hour, they pay the MT's 15 or so....and they expect the MT's to bring the clients....think that one through...

There are so many reasons why I would dissuade someone from going into the field, you can't imagine. Now I can sympathize with someone who is interested in the various modailities and wants to study 'just to know' and has expectations of maybe a hundred bucks or so a month....but otherwise....certainly not to pay the rent."

In other words - I would sincerely hope you think of doing something else.

If you get training as massage therapist it is worth considering..
