I quit smoking cold turkey. It was very hard to do. I started smoking at a very young age. My older sister convinced me when I was around 10-11 years old. A lot of the people on my dad's side of the family smoked so I didn't think it was wrong. We used to steal cigarettes from our dad all the time and he wouldn't notice. I finally stopped smoking when I was 20 years old and haven't smoked for almost 4 years now.

I made sure that I had tons of gum and hard candy. When I get the cravings I would chew gum or eat the candy. Suckers also work pretty good. Not only do you have the hard candy but the stick kind of helps makes it feel like you have a cigarette in your mouth (some people just need that). I also stayed away from places where people smoke the most (bars, casinos, etc) and when my friends or family smoked I usually left to another room or backed away where the smoke won't come by me. But when I usually smoked when I was stress so I had to figure out another way to cope with that. And I loved to run and exercise so I went running when I was stressed, mad, etc. That helped. Then I had my motivation. When those hard times came where I felt like I just want to give up and smoke again I remembered why I wanted to quit in the first place and I was able to stop myself from going and buying cigarettes.

Cravings can take years to get rid of depending on how much you smoked. I smoked about 3-4 packs a week and it took me 2-3 years to finally not have any kind of cravings. The worse is when you are around people who smoke. So if you are able to keep away from them when they smoke then that's the best thing to do. And after you quit you'll notice that the cigarette smell is nasty.

They have fake cigarettes that some stores sell that you can buy. I've never tried it before because they didn't have anything like that when I started to quit. But you can try it and see if it works for you.

Hi there,

even i was facing the same problem when i started avoiding cigarette. But after few days of strong will power. I have overcome my problem & its almost 2 yrs gone by and i haven't smoked yet. I have quite smoking. All you need ti quite smoking is "strong will power". Thats it. No medicine, no therapy is gonna help until you make up your mind that "its enough now. I am killing myself." Its like consuming Poison by your own. If you feel starve, eat snacks it will cause some weight gain but if you control & go for regular workout, nothing gonna stop you.

Best wishes from me. Good luck. :-)

For this you need to go under treatment and for this you may contact to nearby government hospitals, charity hospitals, N G O of your nearest place .

They may help you a lot into the matter in all respect.

My advise !

Get one of those electronic water vapor cigarettes to help you stop...
