Question: Someone please help. Anxiety. which of these herbs should i buy :(?
Im looking for a herb to help with anxiety. However im looking for one without sexual side effects because it's this which prevented me from going on anti-depressants.

Siberian Ginseng
Ginkgo Biloba
Echinacea
St Johns Wort
Valirien Root

Out of these, Ive read St john's wort increases Serotonin, possibly affecting libido.

Is this the same with Valirien root?

The others? Ginseng and ginko improve libido, but do they help anxiety?

Which is best?

Echinacea is for the immune system, not anxiety... that won't really work at all.
Korean/Panax Ginseng (which is good for stress, brain health, and immune system support). However, if you're using Siberian or American Ginseng, those two increase energy and may make anxiety worse (although they also help with stress). Choosing the right Ginseng will make a world of difference when you have stress.
Ginkgo is good for brain health (memory and whatnot), but doesn't really help anxiety.
Valerian is more for sleep, but helps some people relax as well.
You've already answered your own question about St. John's Wort... some people have sexual side effects from it (although many don't have them as well).
Others I mentioned before would include 5-HTP, L-Theanine (found in Green Tea), Ashwagandha, Rhodiola Rosea, Chamomile, and/or Hops.

If there's a misunderstanding, anything that helps with stress can help with anxiety. Which one would work best for you in particular will entirely vary based on your body chemistry (which nobody here would know enough about to adequately answer for you)... you may need to try a few of these to see which one(s) work best for you. St. Johns Wort is more for depression than anxiety but it will still boost your mood. Try a supplement that has around 8 herbs and vitamins called Panicyl. It has everything you need. Good luck!
