How to tell tonsillitis is healing?!

Question: How to tell tonsillitis is healing?
Ok, so im a 19 year old female, and i was sick for about 2 weeks with a normal flu which (because the doctor wouldnt give me anythin for it) eventually developed into tonsillitis about 3 days ago. I went to the doctor 3 days ago and she put me on 666mg of peniciliin for the tonsitlitus and the antibiotics are 4 a day for 10 days. I've only taken 9 altogether so far, as iv been takin them for 2 and a half days, but i was just wondering, what are the signs to know that your tonsillitis is healing up? I was in alot of pain yesterday and today but this evening i recently got alot of stuff up from my nose (not to be horrible gross, but it was a thick greeny/yellowy substance) and quite a bit of it came out of either nostril, even tho i still feel quite blocked up compared to normal. I also have been getting up quite a bit of clear, and sometimes yellowy phlegm from my throat, and am sweatin quite a bit this evening. My mother told me these are signs that the medicine is kickin in and curing the infection, is this true?

Thanks :)

the reason your doctor did not give you anything for the flu is because it is a virus and there is no cure for it.
The only thing he CAN do is treat any secondary infections you might get, which you did; tonsillitis.
The nostril thing is from your sinus, not from your tonsils.
Your mom is right. Your body is expelling the infection. In fact when you have lots of mucus and green snot and are plugged up is a sign that your immune system is also fighting that cold with you. If your immune system did not work, you would literaly choke in your own fluids.
No pain is a good sign that your throat is better too.
Just make darn sure you take ALL the medication as directed and don't stop once you feel good.
