A certain amount of backwash (so to speak!) is common when taking an enema, So long as the fluid gets into your butt, you needn't worry.
Retain it until you feel the overwhelming urge to do the doo.

for goodness sake stop faffing with your body and go and see a doctor.

Then if there is nothing wrong with you ask to see a dietitian about your food habits so it doesn't happen again

don't worry, sometimes it happens

Go to you local pharmacy and purchase a combination hot water bottle/douche/enema syringe ($4.96 at Walmart). Fill the bottle with warm water (105F) and a teaspoon of salt per quart of water. Lay on your left side on a towel on the bathroom floor. Hang the bag from the doorknob. Open the clamp to expel the air from the hose. Lubricate the nozzle and your anus with lubricating gel. Insert the nozzle and open the clamp. Allow the solution to flow until you feel the cramping. Stop the flow and pant like a puppy until the cramping subsides, then resume the flow. Continue this until you have taken the entire bag. Retain the solution for at least 5 minutes and up to 15 minutes if possible.

Hints:
- Massage your belly in a counter-clockwise rotation while retaining the enema.
- The longer you retain the solution the better it will work
- Never try to get to the toilet while having a cramp or you will have an accident.
- Let your husband help and perhaps you can figure out something else to do to distract you while holding the enema.

u better try out a DULCOLAX suppository. It also comes in tablet formulation. Very safe and effective laxative in clinical practice.

Rectum is a distensible part of bowel, so chances of perforation are remote.

The number of bacteria(beneficial or commensals) in your bowel is actually more than the number of cells in your body. They wont let infectious bacteria colonise that easily.

the left side is bulgy not because u were lying on left side but because the anatomy is like that.

it means ur enema had not reached the whole colon yet.

eating a lot of veggies and greens itself would help a lot. if it doesnt u better consult a doc coz u might have sum obstructive lesion (that could explain y ur right part of colon was not filled )

bottle turning yellow is ok. but turning brown or red may indicate bleeding.

the isotonic solution that comes with it is better coz plain water can be absorbed in colon due to osmosis, and in worst cases it can lead to hemodilution and water intoxication, even hospitals in poor countries use only saline and not distilled or plain water.
