I'm having trouble sleeping but I don't want to take pills?!

Question: I'm having trouble sleeping but I don't want to take pills?
I think becaus I have such an overactive imagination I have trouble sleeping. I'm constantly trying to think of new characters for my books, and worrying if I'll get them published before high school, or if I'll ever get married, etc. Plus I'm constantly thinking up new ideas, plots, plot twists, and characters for my stories, and so I often have trouble sleeping. It is physically impossible for me to clear my mind--my thoughts ramble on and on aimlessly, even if I don't notice. I try to empty my mind but I can't, I'm always worrying or thinking. I will NOT try any sleeping pills. Then you end up addicted and you can't get ANY sleep without them. I can get at least get an hour or two a night without them, so no thank you,

I don't understand why I can't sleep. I go to bed every night at 10:00 and wake up at 7:45. However, I ma not asleep by ten o'clock. I usuallylie in bed, pondering and thinking, up until about 4 or 5 AM. On weekends I usually go to bed anywhere from10:00 to 12:00, but don't fall asleep until around 5:00 AM. On weekends I always wake up before 7 (I hate sleeping in on weekends, I feel like I'm wasting my valuable vacation time lol). I don't see what I'm doing wrong, I go to bed and wake up at a similar time every day, and I try to read the first few minutes before bed and stop watching TV or going on the computer. I also like to think serene thoughts. What else can I do?

Nah dude honestly the best medicine that you could take, would be smoking weed before sleeping, try to build a sleeping patter for example 10pm. etc, smoke before you go to bed and you will feel refreshed the very next day. You will feel like a baby trust me. **** pills their all full of methamphetamines, stick to the natural stuff!

Smoking weed helps me fall asleep, why do you think doctors prescribe medicinal marijuana to patients who have serious sleeping problems ?

You can choose to Still your Mind. Keep a journal for your book ideas with you and update it during the day and at night. Keep a separate dream journal next to you at night and before you go to sleep, write down the things that happened during the day as well as any burning issues that require your attention tomorrow. When you wake up in the morning, record your dreams. You seem like a highly creative person and anyone would be wise to interpret and use their dreams in their creative life. After you've expressed the things you write down at night, tell yourself 'I'm going to sleep now'. Use your will power. So you think so shall you be. It's very possible for you to clear your mind of thoughts. It takes practice. Use breathing techniques, inhale for a count of 6 seconds, hold it for 3 seconds, then exhale for 6 seconds. Breathe in this manner counting backward from 100. If you make it do number one, start over. Don't drink caffeine. Exercise. Eliminate electromagnetic currents from your bedroom. Use your bedroom for sleeping only- not studying or doing busy minded activities.

Listening to peaceful music always helps me. I have this problem as well; I can't go to sleep because of all the ideas flying through my head (oh how the artist suffers). You should not eat at least two hours before you go to bed and cut screen-time on the computer or TV for at least an hour before you sleep. Another method that helps me is getting a lot of exercise during the day.
I hope this helps.

Sometimes taking a warm bath and drinking a cup of warm milk will help. The amino acid L-tryptophan helps your body make melatonin, which monitors your sleep waking cycles, or you can just get melatonin, they sell it at all the pharmacies, it is not a drug it is a natural hormone that helps you sleep and also is a cancer inhibitor, so it is a very good thing...a food substance. It sounds more to me like you are bi-polar...and you have racing thoughts I can say the same thing of my childhood, we went to bed at 7 pm, and I fell asleep about 3 or 4 am, and woke up tired, but I didn't know that was not normal. But even if you are bi-polar the melatonin will pretty much take care of that for you.
