I learned recently that your immune system has vitamin d receptors , and vitamin d is not a vitamin ,

There is no such thing as an "immune system enhancing vitamin".

Further, even if there were such a thing, taking it would likely make your immune system OVER-react to things it shouldn't, giving you anything from allergies to Type I Diabetes.

If I had to choose one, a good combination multivitamin/multimineral is best. Vit C and D are important, but you could also need something else. For instance, it's best to take A with D, calcium with D, etc.

No vitamin will do anything to ward off viruses. If you are generally healthy you can't 'enhance' your immune *system*. Vaccines will enhance immune *response*; that's about it.
