It's confusing because it's based around myth, tradition, and superstition.
TCM has never shown any evidence of working better than, or as well as, conventional medicine.
Yes, it's confusing.
I only got as far as the lecture on "healing elements", i.e. water, earth, air, and fire. I pointed out that none of those things were elements, rather a molecule, minerals, atmospheric moieties and oxidation (respectively). The two lecturers conversed with each other in Chinese, then had me removed from the class...
If they can't even get their elements straight, their medicine probably isn't all that great.
I think Western medicine is really confusing, too.
I know that there is published research showing that acupuncture works for specific problems. I personally have had it to relieve neck muscle spasms, and it worked for me.
If you mean does taking powdered rhino horn make you more virile, no. LOL.
If by confusing, you mean largely lacking in evidence.
TCM covers a lot of things. Some herbs may have a degree of effectiveness. Acupuncture doesn't show results beyond placebo in high quality clinical trials.
