What are some steps to self-medicating a stomach ulcer?!

Question: What are some steps to self-medicating a stomach ulcer?
I believe I have a stomach ulcer that is literally killing me (in the way of school and social life :( ). In the last couple of weeks, my appetite has literally gone downhill due to the pain I suffer. I cannot sleep when the pain occurs and yes, my poop is black and tarry. I just bought some Famotidine and had some with dinner (a Cobb salad, sans the croutons and chicken) and had relief for about 3 hours. I currently do not have medical insurance due my state's insane rates, and I really don't want to know how much it would be to get looked at at the hospital about it (had a $1300 bill for draining blood out of a smashed finger), so I am looking at some other alternatives to it.

I've already found out the things I need to take out of my diet to get some sort of relief, but I really feel like I'll be a zombie without some of these things:

Coffee, Copenhagen (yeah bad I know), starch products aggravate the hell out of it, tomatoes and gatorade (some kinds) do the same...

Any links to a diet plan that I can follow would be awesome as well.

"Digestive enzymes help with ulcers in two ways.

* First, they help digest so much of your meal during the 40-60 minutes of predigestion that your body requires less acid in the actual digestion phase. This means that taking digestive enzymes will help lower the levels of acid in your stomach. (Those who suffer from chronic low levels of acid need not worry. Digestive enzyme supplements help here too by breaking down so much food in the predigestion phase that less acid is actually required. And over time, decreased demand results in increased reserve capability.)

* Second, protease will begin breaking down the protective coating of the H. Pylori bacteria responsible for so many ulcers. In other words, it will actually begin to digest it. This is the prime reason digestive enzyme supplements are so helpful for those who have ulcers.

A cautionary note. There is one concern when using digestive enzymes with ulcers -- and that's if you have a severe existing ulcer. What happens is that the protease can actually begin to digest severely damaged stomach lining tissue. This can cause noticeable discomfort for several days. To avoid this discomfort, if you have a severe ulcer, start with small amounts of the supplement with your meals and build up slowly."

You can purchase digestive enzyme supplements from health food stores. Proteases (which digest protein) help reduce inflammation, clean out debris and infection, and stimulate healing. A lactase enzyme supplement can be taken before consuming dairy products to avoid discomfort of lactose intolerance (a condition caused by the lack of the enzyme lactase in the digestive system). If your poop is black and tarry you are bleeding internally. PERIOD. go to a physician. this is not something you want to mess with at all. Take care of it now or it will progress into something life threatening. If you are in the us welfare will come into play (medi-cal). You will pay a income based fee for medical. The billing office is always willing to work with you. They would rather have a little money than no money at all.

take it from someone that has been there and done that. you are bleeding internally.
