Need cures for a sore throat!?!

Question: Need cures for a sore throat!?
Going to be singing in Les Mis next week so i really really need some help. It feels more like a lump in my throat at the moment, maybe because i've tried drinking boiling garlic water, honey hot lemon etc. Singers (or anyone), do you have any tips that really work?

Herbal Therapy:
Try gargling with golden seal tea, says Varro E. Tyler, Ph.d., professor of pharmacognosy at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. To make the tea, Dr. Tyler says to pour boiling water over one to two teaspoons of the dried herb, which you can buy in most health food stores.

Steep for ten minutes, strain to remove the herb and cool before using as a mouthwash, he says. Sage is another good choices for a sore throat, according to Dr. Tyler. He says to chop two teaspoons of fresh leaves (available in most health food stores.), remove the leaves and cool before using as a mouthwash, he says.

Dr. Tyler suggests that you repeat the gargles as necessary for a maximum of two to three days.

Food Therapy:
Allican, the compound that put the pungent odor in garlic, has antibiotic and antiffungal properties that can heal many types of sore throat, says registered pharmacist Earl Mindell, R.Ph., Ph.d., professor of nutrition at Pacific Western University in Los Angeles and author of Earl Mindell's Food as Medicine.

Take two or more cloves, crushed or whole, as the first sign of sore throat and continue eating two cloves a day until your symptoms clear up, he says.

Raw garlic is the most effective, says Dr. Mindell, but it can cause gastrointestinal upset. He suggests baking and stir-frying as other way of getting garlic into your diet. Or, he says, take garlic supplements for all of the benefits with none of the digestive upset. Garlic supplements are available in most health food stores.

Dr. Mindell recommends taking three capsules twice a day with meal until your symptoms clear up.

My Home Remedies for sore throat:

?Just like mom used to say, gargle with salt water (? tsp. mixed with 4 oz warm water) every few hours or as needed.
?Mix a cup of warm water, 2 tsp. honey and the juice of one lemon (or several teaspoons) and sip
?Mixing white vinegar, water, salt and crushed vitamin C together, gargle
?Others swear by gargling with chili pepper (yes, chili pepper!) Capsaicin, the ingredient in chili pepper that makes them hot, also numbs the throat. Mix ? tsp. dried chili or cayenne pepper in a few ounces of water and gargle.
?Remember to drink plenty of liquids. Orange juice and other acidic juices may irritate a sore throat, so be careful.

Some of my added thoughts and suggestions:
?A constant tickle or cough could indicate an allergy to certain foods.
?If sore throat recurs or lasts longer than two weeks, or if you have difficulty swallowing, don't wait; see your doctor.
?Replace your toothbrush regularly. Any time you’ve been ill, you should throw away your toothbrush and start fresh (When your not sick, monthly replacement is suggested)
?If you smoke, stop.
And again, drink plenty of liquids. Teas and water are best.

Drink Coca-Cola in small amounts during the day and night: the bubbles solve the mucus and the acid disinfects. And eat salty crisps as well. Here we use "agua das pedras", naturally salted fizzy water, has the same effect but without the sugar.
Some of my singer friends say that Echinacea works, ("echinaforce" here), the one dissolved in alcohol. Probably same effect.

I recipe I tried once which worked was collecting pigeon poop and boiling it in apple juice to drink. It actually worked amazingly well!

You can use anything you like but you will be wasting your time and money. All you need is warm salt water gargles and your throat will be fine in no time......................
