What to do to become natural?!

Question: What to do to become natural?
I have potentially thick African American hair. But the back and sides and even a little of the top has broken off significatly due to strong perms from my beautician. Its to the point now that i decided to go all natural. Last night, i took out my kinky twists and proceeded to wash my hair with Rasta Shampoo for.Twists and Dreadlocks. The lady from the hair store told me that it would work for natural hair as well. When i got out of the shower, my hair felt very lanky and thin. (My hair is processed) When i put in some leave in, and used a wide-tooth comb to get the tangles out, alot of my hair instantly came out. As i kept detangling it from tip to root, it got thinner and thinner. When i finished and put moisturizer in it, i could run my fingers through my hair and still it would come out...i was beyond mad so i stopped and just tied it up. Now, it's 8 hours later, and its still coming out. I am beyond frustrated and i don't know what to do. Should i cut it, or not? and what are good products to use to go natural with? what did i do wrong? please, give me all the input you can. Thanks in advance.

You didn't do anything wrong. Taking out the twists is very stressful on the hair. I would expect it to come out for a while still - at least a few more washings. It is hard to say what you should do - I'm one of those "cut it off and start over" people, but I would suggest mulling it over for a few weeks before you do that...and consider if you would feel naked with short hair.

Where I live we have all kinds of hair salons that specialize in natural hair, I would suggest you try one of those - if you have a really hard time finding one, go to a health food store and look on the board by the door where people advertise - there are usually a half dozen cards there...

Good luck

that shampoo sounds like bad stuff. Try putting some manayse on your hair, put a towel around it and let it soak for 20 minutes, then rinse it. I would quit the beautiion and the chemicals...and let your hair grow back in natural, wigs are great in the meantime, they help to restore your hair, to cover it and let it grow back. I had a perm once and my hair came out like straw! Sorry this happened to you...I hope you work it out.
