Antibiotics can only be used to help stop bacteria reproducing and creating toxins in the blood. It is the toxins that different bacteria produce, such as cholera which is found in water, anthrax and tuberculosis or TB that make you ill. The first antibiotic to be "discovered" was by Alexander Flemming. He left a petri dish containing bacteria and forgot about it and found a mould called pennicilin growing on it which has now been gone on to be used to destroy bacteria caused diseases such as pneumonia. You can't use antibiotics on colds or flus because they are viruses and viruses make you ill by producing thousands of copies inside you cells and destroying it when the copies burst and go into other cells in the body, this is why it hard to treat them examples of viruses include Chicken pox, small pox, polio. You have to let your own natural immune system fight it off. You can stop getting viruses by getting immunised against viruses by getting an injection which will contain either a dead or weakened form of the virus that will be inserted into your blood stream and your "white blood cells" a very important group of cells in your body that will help fight and destroy infections will recognise the virus so if you were to get a virus, your white blood cells will be able to detect it and use the right "antigen" to destroy it.
Medicines should not be neccessary all the time I agree with that but if you do the best you can in trying to maintain your health by eating healthily and having a balanced diet, it should be enough to stop catching small diseases, but you can be never be sure with viruses like colds and flus which are always developing and you never quite know what is in these prescription meds.

Antibiotics fight bacteria, not viruses. The cold and flu are caused by viruses. Antibiotics are only required in this instance if people develop secondary bacterial infections.

You can read about the history of antibiotics here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antibacteri…

"are all other medications really unnecessary"

Vague, loaded question. What medication? Some are life saving, some are needed to prolong and ensure quality of life. In short, a hell of a lot of people would die and suffer without it.

"if person eats fruits and vegetables and excersises? why , how , where people have become brainwashed to take medicine all the time? "

A healthy diet and lifestyle is important to general health, however it won't necessarily prevent health problems. Many diseases and ailments are due to infection, injury or genetics. Poor nutrition can cause diseases, but to suggest all health problems can be cured or prevented with a healthy diet alone is a composition fallacy.

Antibiotics work on bacteria. Colds and flus are caused by viruses. Bacteria and viruses are different so therefore antibiotics are not given for colds and flu.
Colds and flu viruses mutate so fast that it's very difficult to make anti-viral medication for them. Instead, we just let the body immune system fight it off for us and we get flu shots for flu every year.

Hope this clears it up.

antibiotics work on bacterial infections. viral infections require vaccines. there are so many "cold" viruses that there is no vaccine. bacteria and viruses adapt to meds after a while. that,s why there,s always a new flu vaccine. without modern meds, we would all have life spans averaging 40 years. 3 out of every 5 children would die before age 6. you need to do a little research on the benefits of modern medicine.
