First, go to a doctor to make sure there are no signs of infection. If there are no signs of infection, usually flu and colds go away on their own. There's nothing much you can do but drink plenty of teas, chicken soups, and water. Rest. You dont have to take over the counter medicine.

You are intelligent. You know it is poison and you don't want to take it. Strangely all the drugs used in allopathic treatment are highly toxic in material allopathic dose. People still take them and get more and more sick to the extent that an initial simple acute disease become chronic along with creation of other diseases by the side effects of the drug medicine. Contact a Homoeopath for rapid, gentle and permanent cure. The Homoeopathic remedies are attenuated, thus potentised and completely non-toxic.

There is a huge array of natural remedies that can be applied to illnesses, without having trust man-made medicines. I personally like prescribed antibiotics, however I can see how people can be skeptical... I just don't have the time for skepticism. No, not really.

If it's bacterial in nature, you'll get prescribed antibiotic pills. If it's viral in nature, you'll either suffer until it runs its course or use pills/syrup/medicine to decrease the discomfort.

And, no- phenylephrine *isn't* poison, nor has it ever killed anyone.

Herbal infusions and teas are usually the easiest types of home remedies to take.

However, you should be sure that these do not interfere with any medication that has been prescribed for you.
