How to get over a cold quickly and naturally?!

Question: How to get over a cold quickly and naturally?
I have had this congestion and cough for almost a week and a half now, i have been religiously avoiding sugar and dairy, drinking a lot of fluids and taking grape fruit seed extract and lomatium.
I have chemical sensitivity so I can't take any of that over the counter stuff.
I have class and a job interveiw in the morning I can't cancle. Is there anything that might help get me over it enough, or feeling (and sounding) better long enough for tomorow?
Thank You!

Try this.
I glass of warm water
1 lemon
a slice of ginger root (1 cm)
2-3 tablespoon pure honey

Cut lemon in half, extract the juice.Blend everything, and pour in the sieve. If you want a more potent
mixture, add more of the ingredients or adjust them to suit your taste. The ginger can be spicy though. You can make bigger portions and keep in the fridge.Take it several times a day.

Firstly 'natural' does not make it safe, or 'chemical free'. Medicinal herbs, like lomatium are loaded with chemicals - that's what makes them interact with your body. Are you sure sure you have Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, or are sensitive to all OTC cold and flu medications? There is debate as to whether or not the condition actually exists - many physicians think it may be psychosomatic in many cases.

In any case, you could try nasal irrigation for the congestion, saline spray or even a neti pot: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neti_pot

Try lozenges for the cough - apart from that there is little you can do. If you don't take something for a cold it will go away in 1-2 weeks. If you do take something, it will go away in 7-14 days.

Dairy products increasing congestion is a myth, btw: http://www.abc.net.au/health/talkingheal…

Nothing that you are currently doing will help at all. I've never heard of the kind of chemical sensitivity that you claim you have, but if you do have it that's too bad because all you can do is take OTC meds to make the symptoms easier to deal with. If the cold lasts much longer you should consider talking to a doctor. Finally, despite the pervasive belief vitamin C is virtually worthless for treating or preventing colds.

Echinacea tea is a good remedy for congestion and colds.
Vitamin C will likewise help.

What I use to get rid of congestion and cough is Vick's Dayquil and Nyquil. I am not sure if this will contribute to your allergy. Good luck!

Best thing to do is rest, keep warm, and drink plenty of water. Also take some vitamin C

Rest, drink fluids, and wait it out.
