Has anyone ever tried fasting?!

Question: Has anyone ever tried fasting?
I've recently come across some pretty astounding claims about fasting and I'm just wondering if anyone has any personal experience.. juice or water fasting.

Thanks

I fasted for 9 days drinking only unlimited amounts of organic apple juice about twenty years ago. I just wanted to try it. I felt really hungry for about three days. I continued to prepare meals for my child and I was working during that time. I didn't lose any weight (that wasn't the goal anyway). I was fasting during a hundred degree heat wave and drank a lot of apple juice.

I had tons of energy throughout that time, really more than I had when eating normally. It made me aware that a lot of our energy goes just to digesting food! I had never had to "go hungry"in my very fortunate life and that was an interesting experience. After a few days my eyes were sparkling like diamonds! I was not much of a cook and I came to appreciate that I was preparing balanced attractive meals in my home.

So I feel it is something you might want to experience. I think it could change your relationship with food for the rest of your life.

For several years I fasted once a month,
no eating after noon/just water until the next morning.
Gives the body time to clean itself.
Fasting is easier if you do a few days of all raw foods immediately before the fast.

Have done the Tibetan Fasting retreat called Nyung ne.
It's carried out over a weekend:
Saturday no eating after noon/just water until bedtime
Sunday - no food/no water
Monday morning - tea at twilight, then breakfast.
The hardest part is no water.

In fasting for general health, lots of water is very important.

If you change the mind/body through changing conviction/perceptions at the subconscious level,
you may come at a stage where fasting is not harmful.

Otherwise I guess it's not a good idea just to fast, unless you do it just for the experience, but well... you also get the side effects afterwards.

I have done fasting before. The most days I have fasted for would be 4 only water. By the end of the second day you are no longer hungry. It does help you lose weight but but it will come back again if you over eat after the fast. During the fast your mind becomes clearer and you see things better. Well, at least that is what my fast brought me.

I have fasted not for health reasons, but rather as part of a spiritual discipline - simply to remind myself that I have the luxury of being able to decline eating.

I mean seriously, talk about being fortunate.
Being grateful will keep joy in your heart.

i do.. :)

and i've done partial fasting : from 6:00am-3:00pm taking liquids only..
i've also had skip one meal fasting..
it depends on your choice :))

Hi, im doing a water fast! want to join?
im doing the same thing and looking for a partner

I did no food or drink and I would say it's a pretty useless idea if you want to feel good. But as far as health is concerned it's a good idea.

Fasting or no, calories are still calories. Eating them at a certain time of day or night doesn't matter.

I have fasted for 12 hrs and nothing to eat or drink. Its not that bad. Y are you asking?
