Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride - Benadyrl / Sleep Aid?!

Question: Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride - Benadyrl / Sleep Aid?
I bought Benadryl for my allergies a while ago. I recently got Sleep Aid for my insomnia. I noticed that they're composed of the same chemicals.

Are they basically the same thing?

Bene is 25 mg, and Sleep Aid is 50mg.

Yep. Antihistamines (like Benadryl) tend to make people sleepy. I work at the hospital and we use Benadryl quite frequently as a sleep aid.

Yes they both contain diphenhydramine which is a H1 antagonist. (antihistimine)

It does have sedative effects but it is also adictive and should only be used short term. It also should not be used if you have any cardiac problems, as it effects potassium levels, which are directly related to your hearts ability to contract.

Use with caution, and short term.
