Got diarrhea when i took my last pill of antibiotics. am i gonna be okayyy? on t!

Question: Got diarrhea when i took my last pill of antibiotics. am i gonna be okayyy? on top of that i have a cold lol.?
Antibiotics.. just took my last pill and now got diarrhea. am i okay? on top of that i have a cold ! lol.?
Well I found last last week my dentist did a reallyy bad job, and did my root canal wrong. I had to go see a spealist, and it turns out it was really infected. He fixed it, and gave me antibiotics, vicodin, and a strong aspirin. I stopped taking the vicodin, and strong aspirin like yesterday i think? cuz the tooth stopped hurting.

But I was told to keep taking antibiotics til im done with the bottle.. which was 3 times a day. I only had 2 left so i took them. When I took the last one i got diarrhea (gross i know) and my stomach hurts a little. Am I gonna be okay? I took both of them at different times. And i just thought it was weird that my stomch got like this, once i took the last pill.

To top it off i also have a cold.. throat hurts a little, headache, stuffed nose and bad cough. Like am i gonna be okay? lol. i dint wanna take cold medicine with the antibiotics.. so i guess i wuld take cold medicine tomorrow? idk. but im a worry wart. so helppp. lo. ?:/

You're just fine, sweetie. Good job on taking all the antibiotics; that's the most important thing. The diarrhea is likely a side effect that will end soon on its own. There's no reason you cant take cold medicine now if it makes you feel better.

It may be helpful for you to take Ibuprofen round the clock for a couple of days for the anti-inflammatory properties as well as pain control.

Feel better... and stop worryin' so much!

Nothing is wrong. That is normal with antibiotics. You can take cold medicine whenever you want.

Hopefully, the antibiotic will help with the cold/throat stuff - depends on what kind of antibiotic it is. A lot of people get diarrhea from antibiotics. In fact, I know people who will take an antibiotic for a day or two for constipation because they like the results better than what they get from a laxative - I know - gross, but I'm just trying to be helpful. Your stomach might just hurt because you have a touch of the flu. When you had the root canal done, that may have lowered your immune system a little, so you were an easy target for a cold or flu like thing. You should be able to take the cold medicine now - antibiotics won't interfere with the cold medicine and the cold medicine wouldn't interfere with the antibiotics but I wouldn't take the cold medicine with the vicodin - that could cause serious issues. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

To add to the above comments you may want to take a probiotic to help your digestive system get back on track. Usually doctors suggest this or at least suggest you take a natural unsweetened yogurt.

Yes, antibiotics kill the bad bugs but it also kills off some of the good bacteria (intestinal flora) that your digestive tract needs to function in good health. The pro biotic (capsules, liquid or yogurt) replenish your intestinal flora.

You will find probiotics (capsules and liquid) in the refrigerated section of your health food store or whole Foods. Jarrow brand makes a good and reasonably priced one. If you take yogurt go for the greek style and make sure it is made from milk not powdered milk products.

The suggested time frame to take it would be no less than 1-2 weeks after the course of antibiotics
