Is calcium good for hot flashes and bone pain?!
Question: Is calcium good for hot flashes and bone pain?
Answers:
It is good, as long as you don't abuse it. Hot flashes and bone pain can come from various causes, from lack of calcium and magnesium, to menopause. I don't know what your case is, but unless you already have a high concentration of calcium in your body, taking 10 days of effervescent calcium (and vitamin D, since without it calcium cannot stick to your body) can't harm you. :)
advice i got from my doctor
If the bone pain is related to micro-fractures caused by osteoporosis or osteopenia, yes. Supplementing with calcium (and vitamin D) can be beneficial. Frankly, the vit D is much more important... most of us get sufficient calcium in our diets.
Calcium wont have any impact on hot flashes, though. (Vit D might, depending on the cause.)
My concern would be that the bone pain and hot flashes are related to a more serious condition which goes undetected because you're self-treating with dietary supplements. Bone pain should never be ignored. Have you seen your doc about this problem? Please do. It's absolutely worthy of investigation.
