what's the difference between rubbing alcohol & lsopropyl alcohol?!
Question: What's the difference between rubbing alcohol & lsopropyl alcohol?
Answers:
"Rubbing" alcohol is a subjective term, which can imply either ethyl or isopropyl alcohol. "Isopropyl alcohol" is an objective term, and tends to be the more common form of "rubbing" alcohol.
Drinking isopropanol is not a good idea. You probably won't go blind, but your stomach will NOT be happy. Ethanol, on the other hand, is the edible form of alcohol found in beer, wine, vodka, etc.
That said, you don't want to be drinking "rubbing" alcohol of the *ethyl* variety either, as it contains additives which serve to prevent teenage chemists from using it to make adult beverages.
(Ethyl alcohol = ethanol; Isopropyl alcohol = isopropanol.)
Was once a teenage chemist...
