Hypoactive thyroid and CANT gain weight?!

Question: Hypoactive thyroid and CANT gain weight?
I was diagnosed with a hypoactive thyroid when I was in 11 and had been taking medication for it. Over the years I had neglected days and even weeks at taking it because I am also very thin and worry that a normal thyroid will make me lose more weight. I dont understand why I am so thin and have a hypoactive thyroid. I am 14 years old, 5feet8inches and 102 pounds. Can anyone tell me whats wrong with me or what might happen if i take my medication regularily? (I have a normal diet)

You should talk with your doctor about such things.

What is a normal diet to you?

It is odd that you are having trouble gaining weight if you eat well and also deal with an underactive thyroid. The doctor wouldn't have prescribed you a certain medication if he didn't believe it would help.
My guess is that you aren't eating as much as a teenager at 5'8 should for optimal health. If you regulated your thyroid, your appetite and energy levels would regulate with it, encouraging you to eat more, stay active and build a more muscular figure. If you are still concerned, speak up about it with your doc.
Also keep in mind that hormones can have a lot to do with it. Many teenagers don't easily gain weight until they've hit puberty.
