You can find active species of mushrooms in normal forests such as gymnopilus spectabilis, or psilocybe cyanescens which grow on woodchips. Other active mushrooms are dung lovers and grow in cow or horse pastures sodden with manure. The most commonly sold active shroom Psilocybe Cubensis is among these dung lovers. They love the field-aged, dried cow pies and can be seen sprouting from them after rainstorms in the warm spring and summer months. Cubensis are identified by their golden cap color, blue bruising upon handling, and purple-black spore print. They are found primarily in the US within the gulf coast region from Texas all the way down the Florida panhandle.

The most common shrooms picked are typically found in cow pastures. Cows will pick up on spores and/or eat shrooms (hehe cows are always trippin) and these will get stored in their bodies and sent through the system.... Then they take a crap. Its not an instantaneous "hey look shrooms!" kind of deal it will typically take a day or 2 after the cows have moved on from that area and the patties are dried up. The spores will then sprout overnight and when the sun comes out the head will open up and break the seal on the bottom of the cap realeasing millions more spores onto the ground just waiting to be fertalized and watered. Thats why typically shroom patches will have multiple colonies in one area. If you were to pick them pick them at night before the cap cloud opens up in the sun light. You will have to eat much much less than if you pick them in the day because all those spores are what gives you the good intense trip :)

Keep in mind no matter what any other uneducated people will say, shrooms arent harmful. In fact theyre less deadly than a regular daily dose of asprin. Now the hallucinations sometimes can give people bad thoughts, trips, etc. But the actually physical aspect of them is a mild variation of food poisoning that gives you the trip. With shrooms if you start off with a good trip (way more common) then you will end with one. If you start off bad it will end bad. Unlike LSD shrooms dont variate within one trip.Starting off bad is only due to paranoia for no reason, not in a safe environment with ppl close to you, going into public (highly frustrating on shrooms), and just overall not in a good trip mind set environement (no lights, no trippy techno, no close friends)

They CAN be found in a forest near a marshy area, however its not as near as common because there arent many animals that will transfer the spores to this area. Be careful and make sure the right ones are picked when in a forest because there are many different kinds that can be picked that will just make you get sick with food poisoning. And no one likes food poisoning.

Yea... they mostly come from cowpies. Yummy! But they can also be cultivated on purpose. I had a friend who used to make a living by selling shroom growing kits!

Better to look where the cattle graze. Commonly found on cow pies. Enjoy! :P
