How does acupuncture work especially in the ear?!

Question: How does acupuncture work especially in the ear?
I skimmed a little bit on acupuncture. I am really considering doing it! However my therapist mentioned her co worker that is a therapist too may do one too. She and I both want it! I do have depression/anxiety, and lower back pain. I am really hoping this can help me! I am wondering, how far in the ear do they go if they do? It won't puncture the ear drum or anything right? I hear the needles are very tiny and you won't feel too much and no scars :). Oh, my back pain is from scoliosis as well.

Silly, but can it help with osteoporosis? That would be nice! :P lol I know it may not but who knows! I know after you have it done though you need to take it easy that day. :)

The rituals connected to it induces a very strong placebo effect. Nothing more. It won't do anything to correct scoliosis, and it will have no effect on osteoporosis. But you may experience pain relief attributable to the placebo effect.

A factor you should take into consideration is the risk of complications such as necrosis (tissue death) of the ear cartilage. Even if the risk is small, it is there.

The needles are inserted in the outer part of your ear and earlobe. There's no danger of any sensitive parts being punctured or damaged.
For osteoporosis you need to take a lot more vitamin D3 (check out the articles at Mercola.com) and it's completely curable through diet. Osteopathic manipulation can help scoliosis tremedously by reducing the amount of curvature. Acupuncture will get rid of pain.

Acupuncture is absolutely amazing! I was a huge skeptic at first too, but my friend forced me into it. It works by applying those very thin needles to specific points on the body where the nerve endings are not sensitive. The pressure applied to these areas creates a divergent flow of energy in the body, and helps not only your body, but also your mind.

I highly recommend it!
