its 1 am british time and im not sleepy?!


Question: Its 1 am british time and im not sleepy?
its long past midnight and i have trouble getting to sleep when I go to bed.
ive tried most things,
getting up early
soothing music
herbal remidies
has anyone any other suggestions for insomnia

I have a specific method I use all the time when I have trouble relaxing before I go to sleep. It works really well for me (I've never been a good sleeper), give it a try! The aim is to relax every muscle in your body, from your toes, even to the muscles in your face.

Start off by tensing up your toes (clench them into like a kind of a fist with your foot :D), and breathe in slowly and deeply whilst counting to six. Make sure you actually count, and concentrate on the counting and the tensing. Hold your breath like that and count to six in your head again. Then slowly but completely relax your toes, again counting to six as you exhale. Then hold your breath there and count to six again. Then tense the muscles in your ankles and lower legs, inhale slowly and counting to six again. Lather, rinse, repeat; until you've tensed and relaxed every group of muscles, even your face (scrunching up your face and/or shutting your eyes really tightly is good too). After you've done this, you'll be considerably more relaxed, and because the counting has taken your mind off everything else, your head will be in a better place, so it will be easier to fall asleep.

At no point should you be tensing up so much that you hurt yourself. You know your own limits, don't push it too much :)

My mental health nurse taught me this ages ago, and it's one of the most valuable things I've ever learned, being a stubborn sleeper and all! Please give it a try, and let me know if it works :) Good luck! xx

Previous experience, this trick works wonders for me



The waking up early thing always works no matter what people say. When you say you wake up early do you mean 10 or 11? lol try waking up at 730 as painful as it seems it works like a charm after 3 days if not 2



try taking a couple hits of weed from a pipe if first time 1 hit would do. that usually helps me get to sleep.

Warm milk. Its gross, but it works.



hot bath to relax your muscles, and maybe a muscle relaxer if you agree with it?.
That should put you out for 8hours :P

try closing your eyes and day dreaming about sleeping
