What are the dangers of ecstasy?!

Question: What are the dangers of ecstasy?
My friend is trying to get me to do ecstasy. I'm an honor roll student so would doing ecstasy once significantly impair my academic ability? Do I have a significant chance of dying? What should I expect when taking it? Will I be permanently less happy?

Answers:

I used ecstasy fairly often in high school in college. I got a full scholarship to a university, where I graduated with honors and gave a speech at my college commencement which I wrote myself in Latin, so I doubt very much using once would impair your intellectual ability, because using ecstasy all through college certainly didn't make me any stupider. Using ecstasy once certainly won't impair your academic abilities.

Compared to other drugs, it is quite safe as long as you know you are actually taking MDMA (what ecstasy is supposed to be). MDMA is safer than alcohol and there is no significant chance of death. Like somebody said, on rare occasions people are allergic to MDMA (any drug can cause an unexpected allergic reaction, and MDMA is no different). Start slow with a very low dose. Wait a half hour or so to make sure you aren't going to have an allergic reaction (the symptoms of which would be severe nausea and vomiting, swelling of the lips and face, and constriction of airways to your lungs). If you don't experience any of these effects, then take the rest of your dose.

The biggest concern with ecstasy is that ecstasy tablets are notoriously impure. They often contain MDMA plus other, more dangerous drugs, or may contain no MDMA at all, and some of the drugs sold as MDMA can be quite dangerous. You can go to www.pillreports.com and search for the pill you have and see what people who have taken that pill have to say about it. An even better solution would be for you to purchase an EZ Test kit through www.dancesafe.org. This kit contains several reagents that change color when applied to a tiny scraping of your pill. This kit tests for the presence or absence of MDMA, plus for the presence of common adulterants found in ecstasy pills. If the marquis reagent turns blue/black, you know you have MDMA. If there is no reaction from the other reagents, then you can feel fairly confident your pill contains only MDMA. If you get no reaction from the marquis reagent, then you know the pill contains no MDMA at all. The other reagents test for things like amphetamine/methamphetamine, ketamine, DXM, and other common adulterants. If your test kit tests positive for any other substance besides MDMA (or doesn't test positive for MDMA at all), I would discourage you from taking that pill.

When you take it, as you come up you may feel frightened and anxious, however these feelings pass quickly. MDMA takes about 30 minutes to kick in, and when it does kick in, it happens very suddenly. You go from feeling totally sober one minute, and then suddenly you realize you are extremely intoxicated, and some people, especially first time users, find this sudden change a little alarming, but don't worry it doesn't last long. You will then be happier than you have ever been before, touching things and being touched feels amazing. Wear cloths with interesting textures and get somebody to give you a back rub. If your pill contained only MDMA, it will last 4 to 5 hours, and you should be able to go to sleep shortly after you come down. Taking another dose after you start to come down will not greatly increase the positive effects, but will increase negative side effects and increase the possibility of neurotoxicity. Take one dose, roll hard, and when it's over, let it go. Don't take more in an attempt to prolong the experience. If you keep your use to three times a year or so with several months between each time, you will experience few to no negative side effects. If you are awake for hours after you come down and the thought of food makes you sick well into the next day, it is likely that there was meth in your pill (but if you get the testing kit, you can test your pills and avoid pills that contain meth), Since you have never done it before, you will probably have an afterglow the next day and feel fabulous. It is only people who use heavily and frequently that suffer from depression, short term memory problems, and other issues associated with frequent, heavy use. It's a very rewarding, incredible experience, but just be safe and don't do anything stupid.

Firstly, MDMA is illegal in almost every country. I am not condoning the possession or use of illegal drugs.

One of the biggest dangers of MDMA is hyponatremia, which is a form of water intoxication. MDMA fools your brain into thinking you are warm and thirsty, when you are not. People can die from drinking too much water—a good rule of thumb is about one standard bottle of water an hour.

About one in two hundred thousand people are allergic to MDMA—typically, these people die within minutes to an hour after taking the drug. If you have had other methamphetimines, you may be able to understand how your body reacts to them.

Seretonin withdrawal is a side effect of MDMA. You can expect to be less joyful for about a week. Remember that chronic drug use can "rewire" the brain—even sometime as harmless as marijuana. I would not expect occasional MDMA use to significantly affect your ability to perform academically or emotionally after you have overcome the withdrawal symptoms.

no, if you do it once you wont feel any long term differences. If you do it all the time, you can develop depression because it changes how your brain produces serotonin (stuff that makes u happy) It can also mess up your memory.

If you do it make sure you drink water.

of sure it will kill your liver and brain
if you want ti increase your academic ability's take Gotu Kola and Ginkgo Bilobla

Just say NO. Is it worth taking the chance with your life?
