It has weak stimulant effects, but the effects are nothing like MDMA at all. According to what I've read, most people are either disappointed in the effects, experience very unpleasant side effects (headache, nausea, vomiting, and such) and most people just don't like it much.
It would not show up on the standard NIDA 5 drug test. It would be possible to test for it, but somebody would only test for it if you were already suspected of using that drug and they would have to perform a special test for it, which is highly unlikely to the extreme. I can't find any information about whether or not it can cause a false positive for other drugs, but its chemical structure is different enough from all other common recreational drugs, I think it would be highly unlikely for it to cause a false positive for another drug. In the sports world, it is tested for because it can be used as a performance enhancer, but a standard drug test does not test for it.
