which is better for seizures carbamazepine or lamictal?!
Question: Which is better for seizures carbamazepine or lamictal?
I started having seizures when I was 17 and my mother had seizures also i use to take dilantin but it never helped me at all i still had seizures. After I kept having seizures I switched to Depokote my mother took that for her Bipolar and her seizure disorder. I was diagnosed as Bipolar too. The depokote started to make me depressed and withdrawn so I just got put on Carbamazepine. My doctor said that her daughter has taken it and has had healthy children. She hasn't had a seizure in years. A friend of mine has taken lamictal she told me she only has a seizure once in a blue moon. I just don't wanna get depressed and be withdrawn again like I was on the depokote. If anyone or has known of anyone that taken which one worked better?

A medication that works well for one person does not necessarily work well for someone else. Everyone is different and has different reactions to medications. Some people need a combination of medications to get good seizure control. Work with your doctor to determine what will be best for you. The drugs.com site has a good discussion of each of them.
