Why would a minor be prescribed Vicodin?!

Question: Why would a minor be prescribed Vicodin?
I've heard that Vicodin is a very strong pain reliever, and can become very addictive. Also it's suppose to be easy to accidentally overdose on, and cause liver problems. But I've heard of some minors being prescribed Vicodin. Why would someone under 18 be prescribed such a strong and dangerous drug?

Answers:

it shouldnt cause any more liver damage than tylenol -they have the same ingredient that does that. vicodin just has one more ingredient in it aside from the tylenol is the only thing. as long as it is taken as directed, it should not be a problem and definitely should not be addictive. it is only addictive and causes damage when it is abused. it is a strong pain reliever though, and that is why it is prescribed.

This is the best type of pain reliever made. Opiates. They work, and are efficient. They arent easy to od on unless you are just a straight up idiot. and them being addictive, that only occurs when taking them for probably 2 or more weeks, everyday that is.
