I can't stand this anymore... PLEASE answer?!

Question: I can't stand this anymore... PLEASE answer?
I'm 16 and i've been suffering with an under active thyroid for a year now and i have got worse and worse in that time.I have been taking Levothyroxine for a year and my symptoms have got worse and i now have very bad hair loss and thining hair, a swollen thyroid, cold hands and feet all the time, severe insomnia, looking pale, constipation, and many more symptoms. It has ruined my life and i have missed the most important school year of my life and i'm missing my GCSE's. I have been to so many doctors on the NHS, over 40 doctors i have seen have all been useless, they said the symptoms are probably caused by something else, which is a load of rubbish. They wont prescribe me Armour thyroid and even a private doctor i saw wont give it to me because he's not allowed to. I don't know what to do. And also, will my hair grow back? Will my thyroid swelling go down? I am so depressed because of all of this, i cry everyday. I am utterly desperate for a solution. Please answer, thanks.

You should always consult with your doctors and your parents before you try any supplement.

Iodine is the most important nutrient need for your thyroid. The problem is that it can be hard to come by in your food. Not only is it hard to get iodine in your diet, but a lot of foods have ingredients that block the iodine in your body from working correctly. So every time you drink water with fluoride or eat bread that contains bromide you are adding to the problem. [1]

Another area of concern is that your body needs an appopriate amount of protein for proper functioning of the thyroid. If you typical breakfast is cereal and a glass of juice or if you skip breakfast you can see how this could hurt your health. L-tyrosine is a compotent of protein that plays an important role in the production of thyroid hormones. [2]

So what can you do? Well so simply steps that you can take would be to increase your intake of iodine. You can try supplements that contain iodine (like kelp) in a health food store if you want a more potent does. Other ways would be to increase your intake by the foods that you eat. [3] Organic eggs are a great source of iodine and protein. You can also buy l-tyrosine by itself as a supplement and see if that makes a difference. I would also change my diet to increase my protein (eggs, chicken, turkey, etc.), eating more vegetables, and drinking more bottled water. A multi vitamin would be a good idea as well.to help your body function properly.

Remember that your body can only function with what you give it. Your body needs calcium for strong bones, and in the same way your thyroid needs iodine for proper functioning. It is important of course to go over all this information with your doctors and your parents.
