If you want anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds because they give you a feeling of being high then I can only say don't do it. First of all, ALL meds have side effects. One of the most common side effect of anti depressants is serious weight gain--the reason being that they make the existing serotonin in the brain work longer--meaning they are slowing the metabolism down. Next, not all anti depressants work the same for each person--what might work for me could be useless for you. Also, taking anti depressants overa longer period of time can make you seriously dependent on them, meaning your body won't function without them. Even though the medical community doesn't really consider that a dependency because they make the serotonin work longer--without them the serotonin won't work longer--and that's when you really get serious depressions and anxieties. A friend of mine is taking Zoloft and she gained 50 lbs. Another one takes Prozac and gained 40 lbs--I wouldn't want to take that risk just to get the loopy feeling.
There are natural ways to deal with anxiety too: one is called 5-HTP and it actually got good reviews. It's a natural supplement that gets converted by the body into serotonin--and that in turn will have a great impact on how you feel about yourself, you'll sleep better, less cravings for carbs, less or no anxiety. Another thing you can add is fish oil--it's been proven already that it helps. Then add sunshine--20 minutes a day in bright sunshine without sunscreen will cause the skin to produce vitamin D-enough of it(10.000 I.U.)which is helping the serotonin production.......best of all, sunshine is for free--so try that because I think it will work and you'll feel much better about yourself. If you go walk in bright sunshine enough you'll tank up enough vitamin D to get you through the dreary and rainy days.....

I know this is such a typical answer, but you should just talk to your doctor.
It can be tricky though and you might have to try different kinds of medications to see what works for you.

It depends on how severe your depression and anxiety are and how you react to certain medications.

My doctor once put me on anxiety meds and they only made me worse.

personal experience

If you feel you need them then you prob. Do. Ive always strugled with depression. Most of my family members have depression. Ive been on those meds since I was 17 im 27 now. They have saved my life. You could see a general family Dr. or a physocoligist. Either Dr can help you. Just be honest with them on your feelings and thoughts. These drs are trained to know if you need meds or not and if you have depression & anxiety. They will prob try a few deffrent types until they find the right medication for you. Ive tryed several diffrent kinds but my Dr found what works best for me. In the kinds ive tryed I havent had to many side effects. When you talk about loopy I think ur reffering to more of a medication like the antiphysotics. But think of it this way. It cant hurt to go to a Dr and get advice or have a consult. From there you can decide whats best for you.

Happy to help!

Meds are so difficult to tamper with. There is no starter prescription with young people most of the time with anxiety. You have to figure out what it is that's the problem. ADHD? Bi-polar? Paranoia? Brain disorder or nervousness? Diet or case problem?
