Safe daily intake of nutmeg?!

Question: Safe daily intake of nutmeg?
I have heard about the toxicity and the hallucinations it causes and I'm worried now, because I use it in cooking.
Also, last month I caught my daughter taking about 1/2 teaspoon of the raw grated nutmeg :(
Now I know why, BTW :P
Is it dangerous in that big dose?

Answers:

Like clove, nutmeg has a numbing effect on nerves in larger doses; the amount that sweetery shops, kitchens use are harmless, even less toxic than a glass of wine.

Well, its not toxic. It doest cause a hallucinogenic trip though. Its not going to do anything do damage her, but it IS a cheap way to get high. But i seriously doubt shell do it agian. Nutmeg has no euphoria or any good feelings associated with it. It often makes people feel the end of the world is coming and is a scary feeling to ppl who try it. Ive done it, my friends have, its not a pleasant experience. We just heard it can get you high so we did it. It wasnt fun. I would be more worried for her searching for better feeling drugs. MDMA and weed are safe but so many other things arent very safe. Nutmeg wont hurt her

do you have the powder? If so, you can get rid of that and get the actual nuts---that way you can stash them at a safe place and only dig them out when needed. Keep them in a glass because that is better for the spice and only grate off what you need. It tastes a lot better that way too.....
