Question about acupuncture and muscle spasms?!

Question: Question about acupuncture and muscle spasms?
I'm to the point where I'm willing to spend some money to find some relief of my muscle spasms. They've been happening for the past 6 months in my lower back. Lately I've been really stressed/depressed/anxious all at once, so they've gotten worse, to the point where it is quite uncomfortable and effecting my posture. I've tried massages but those seem to provide maybe an hour of relief.. I was prescribed muscle relaxers but they cause me to have panic attacks for whatever reason.
I was curious if anyone has had muscle spasm's and went onto seek acupuncture as an alternative cure for their spasms? Or if anyone has had any luck in general with a related issue while getting treated with acupuncture.
It's pricey, but your feedback will my decision. Appreciate :)

Acupuncture has been studied in many trials and shown to be more than the placebo effect. More about the research here >>> http://www.tcmabc.org/news/research/who_…

My mother had the same problem with severe back muscle spasms and was taking powerful epileptic drugs to stop it. When her stomach acid was improved with betaine hydrochloride supplements the spasms went away; insufficient stomach acid was also the cause of her GERD. The problem was not absorbing vital nutrients due to insufficient stomach acid. >>> http://www.modernherbalist.com/betaine.h…

Acupuncture has more of a placebo effect if anything, but if they are really giving you hassel you may as well give it a go. Acupuncture relies on needles being put in exact places on the body, so as you can imagine different acupuncturists will put them in different places.
I would say that the spasm are more of a symptom of your stress so rather than dealing with the symptoms you should deal with the cause. So make a list of everything that is making you stressed, and then look at ways to resolve them. I think maybe try some relaxation techniques and do them on a morning, ten minutes meditation to calm you down at the start of the day. It's free at least :)

Acupuncture is fantastic for lower back problems, and it also happens to be supported by clinical studies, etc. Where you might tried to save some money is to find a local TCM/acupuncture school that runs a supervised student clinic. You can have treatments at a fraction of the cost in a win/win situation.
Another great lower back solution is to find an Osteopathic manual practitioner -- again student clinics can save you $$.

Save your money

Acupunture is a treatment that uses needles inserted in meridian points (that don't exist) to direct your che (which doesn't exist) and unblocks energy flows through your body.... they don't exist either.

so what does it do? well it makes you feel like you've taken a positive step towards curing your condition. therefore you report better symptoms. you go again because you feel good and then when your condition goes away eventually you attribute it to the Acupunture. you also tell your friends about how it worked wonders and spread the myth that it's an effective cure. this in my opinion is the main reason Alternative medicines exist

I have had 7 back surgeries and have everything from spinal shots to nuerostimulators. I am on 5 10mg methodones a day now and use a horse linament called beagle oil and it has changed my life. I can do almost anything now that I am using both. Accupucture does help but is not an option if you don't go to a chropracter who does it because medicare does pay for most of the treatments. You pretty well have to find what works for you. I also use a invert table and it seems to help too. Hope this helps you also. God bless charles norman

Placebo treatments like acupuncture can sometimes help with pain, but I think your money would be better spent on working with a physical therapist, who would look to the underlying cause/s and provide proper effective treatment (and without the mystical stuff like Qi and meridians).
