Where are the homeopathic 'experts'?!

Question: Where are the homeopathic 'experts'?
A common monologue we hear trumpeted is that you should see a homeopathic 'expert', because these people know more about homeopathy than anyone else. Yet when a homeopathic company was recently challenged on the outlandish claim that their sugar pills could be "excellent for people who were depressed, insecure, angry, confused, nervous or tired", they couldn't find an expert to back their claims.
Despite the company making the usual statement about the complainant that "you don't know what you're talking about" , it turns out that their homeopathic expert didn't know either!:

"In support of its claims, it submitted a letter from Dr David Naudé, clinical director of the department of homeopathy at Durban University of Technology.

The ASA said however it was not satisfied that Naudé qualified as an expert in the field of anxiety, depression, emotionality and other mood disorders.

"In addition to this, it is worth noting that nothing before the [ASA] suggests that the respondent's product as a whole has ever been tested to confirm that it can deliver the claimed effects."

So if homeopathic experts are not experts about homeopathy, who is?

Answers:

A homeopath's expertise is typically restricted to knowledge of homeopathy, ie; witchcraft. Of course they should not be put forward as experts in conditions such anxiety, depression and mood disorders. This highlights a risk with homeopathy - homeopaths are not doctors and do no medical research. None of their training is medical.

In fact one would have to question the mental stability of anyone claiming to be an expert in homeopathy.

EDIT: my apologies if I have offended any witches!

I think we should see it from an alternative perspective. It is totally plausible, that those who trumpet that seeing a homeopathic expert, have an alternative view on what an expert is. Just as they have an alternative view on just about anything.

From a traditional point of view, we don't have to look further than this thread to find some of the most knowledgeable people on homeopathy in terms of understanding what homeopathy is all about, and what it can do. However the argument could be made, that comparing homeopathy to witchcraft is an insult - to witches.

".....(the remedies are )...based on the principles of homeopathy, of which it appears that the complainant is not informed".

That's basically making a public statement that 'they weren't playing along with the insanity'

I would love to see an "expert" for B & T or Boiron step forth....now that would like a lamb to the slaughter....

Gary and AngelHil both have your answer ;)

Happy Valentines Day - to everyone....

Dave, what qualification do you have to request a monologue from a certified homeopathic and why would you want one
Dave you know Alternative Medicine works in the spiritual realm also .
So I hope you believe in GOD also,

Hilarious!!

Even in Yahoo Answers you can't seem to find any of these experts. This question was posted 14 hours ago asking how water memory works and no homeopath expert (nosey) tried to answer it.

Perhaps they are busy forming an orderly queue for James Randi's re -issued challenge, it seams that none of the 'experts' won it last time

ALERT false premise Dave.

An expert in Homeopathy would be someone who knows that it does not work.

I think you're a little confused over your question, and the information you provide as 'evidence' of there being no 'experts' in the field.

You ask where are the homoeopathic experts - and then quote the ASA as 'not satisfied that Naude qualified as an expert in the field of anxiety, depression ,emotionality and other mood disorders'.

Were you, in fact, meaning to ask 'where are the experts in the field of anxiety, depression ....?'

*****
Still seems you have some confusion over your question - One would certainly expect that the 'clinical director of the university department of homeopathy' would be regarded as an expert on the subject of his expertise - i.e. homeopathy. There is no indication in the quoted professional title with regard to his expertise (or otherwise) in the field(s) of anxiety, depression ...

Analytical thinking

Interesting. I would like to know where they are too. It seems that when the chips are down they all go into hiding.I had a similar experience 18 months ago. Do you remember Lloyds Pharmacy spamming TV adverts with their red-light allergy cure? You've not seem it since because I was the one (and only one) who complained about it after submitting a literature search to the ASA

"A Homoeopathic doctor is an EXPERT to cure rapidly, gently and permanently."

Yet not good enough to avoid having to submit trial data to the ASA in SA it would seem.

"You ask where are the homoeopathic experts - and then quote the ASA as 'not satisfied that Naude qualified as an expert in the field of anxiety, depression ,emotionality and other mood disorders'.

Were you, in fact, meaning to ask 'where are the experts in the field of anxiety, depression ....?'"

Why would a so-called doctor be submitting a testimony outside his field of expertise? That would surely smell of fraudulent scientific behaviour unless he stated as much and was only tendering a testimony as any general member of the public. Fallacy noted.

There are no separate experts. A Homoeopathic doctor is an EXPERT to cure rapidly, gently and permanently.

Profound and extensive knowledge with experience in Homoeopathy.

Vast literature on Homoeopathy and the famous book "Everyday Miracles of Homoeopathy" by Dr. Vijayalakshmi.
