Do you lack iron with hyperthyroidism?!


Question: Do you lack iron with hyperthyroidism?
I have hyperthyroidism and my mom bought me iron pills. But if im overproducing hormones wouldnt that mean i have too much iron? Since iron turns into hormones.

Nope.

HypERthyroidism means you have an overactive thyroid gland. Basically you are producing too much of the hormone, thyroxine. This is rectified by reducing the amount of thyroxine made by the overactive gland. Usually this is with medication in the form of Carbimazole, but sometimes Radioiodine.

Iron supplements are only of benefit if your Dr has told you that you have iron anemia. Otherwise, don't take them. It won't help.



That means you are anemic. I have both. Iron pills should balance your hormones
