Does homeopathy pills aggravate the disease, initially?!

Question: Does homeopathy pills aggravate the disease, initially?
Hi All,

I would like to know, does homeopathy pills aggravate the disease, initially? I am having gastric ulcer for the past 1 1/2 year. Now recently, I am taking homeopathic medicine for the past 2 weeks. But now the pain has increased drastically. After some browsing, I find it tends to increase the pain. But my question is for how long should I suffer with this initial pain? Since now the pain is much more than last month when I didnt take any homeopathy tablets.

I also have another question, can I take allopathy and homeopathy medicines together?

The pain is worse because homeopathic medicines are a scam, they only ever work because of the placebo effect, but if you're actually sick they won't do jack ****.

Go see a doctor and get real medicine before it becomes septic and you die.

It is definitely not necessary to experience an aggravation (increased pain) with homeopathy at the beginning of treatment.

Although having an aggravation is unpleasant, it does indicate that you are using the correct remedy to heal your ulcer. It also indicates that the potency, dose or frequency of the dose is too high, too much or too often and has to be adjusted. If you are self-prescribing you should stop taking the remedy and consult with a homeopath who will prescribe the correct potency, dose and frequency specifically for you. If you are under the care of a homeopath, you should contact him or her as soon as possible and describe what you're experiencing. Your homeopath will make the appropriate adjustments.

You can use homeopathy and allopathy at the same time. Neither system of medicine will interfere with the other. You can stop an aggravation by drinking a cup of strong coffee.

Absolutely not!

It's either water or a sugar pill, and neither will make your condition worse so it's clear that your situation is deteriorating.

Go and see a real medical doctor. Remember that homeopaths are NOT doctors. They rarely have any medical training, cannot diagnose illness and frequently offer incorrect advice (as Leanne has done here).

Avoid!

Edit: Hi angrydoc, it looks like Leanne is advising that this person whose pain has increased dramatically should indeed see a 'non-doctor'. That sounds extremely irresponsible to me.

It's a very very strong clue that your homeopathic "medicine" is not working. Did your homeopath claim that it will cure your gastric ulcer? That person just flat out lied to you. Homeopathic remedies are just water and sugar pills and contain no active ingredient at all. They have also been shown to not work for anything.

See a doctor for a proper diagnosis of your ulcer and for proper treatment. Good luck.

edit: @Leanne Lucas: Are you seriously telling this person to ignore or delay seeking proper medical advice and treatment and to keep going to someone who is NOT a medical doctor?

If the potency or the size of the dose is too great then you can experience a homeopathic aggravation. If you are self-prescribing, stop and consult a professional Homeopath. No one can predict how long an aggravation will last.
Yes, you can take homeopathic and allopathic meds concurrently.

The pain is getting worse because you are doing nothing for the disease. Homeopathy is nothing but a bunch of crap. The pills are milk sugar with a drop of water on top. You should stop wasting your time and money on homeopathy and see a real doctor.

Treating with homeopathy is the same as no treatment. You can mix any medications without fear of adverse reactions.

No it doesn't. If you have an ulcer go and see a doctor for treatment.

That gets my GOAT!

Homeopathy, a form of medicine that relies on minute amounts of herbs, mineral and other substances to stimulate a person's natural defenses and help the body heal itself.

"It's important to remember that herbs are medicines," says Dr. Watson. "As with any medication, it's important to know how to take herbs, how frequently and in what dosage.

No matter what you do, however, you must be aware that just because it's natural doesn't mean it's always safe. Most herbal remedies are, but a few can be quite dangerous. For instance, Goldenseal, a powerful natural antibiotic, may help fight colds, flus and other types of infection.

When used long term for chornic infection, however, it should be taken ony in cycles, such as two to thre weeks on and two weeks off. Taken without a break in the cycle, it may cause you to get sicker rather than better, says Dr. Gladstar.

Herbs used wisely, in the context of a healthy lifestyle that includes a nutritious diet and regular exercise, herbal remedies may be just the boost your body needs to keep you feeling vital and to protect you from illnesses, Dr. Gladstar says.

Eat more cabbage, says Allen Magaziner, D.O., a nutrition medicine specialist and head of the Magaziner Medical Center in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

"Cabbage contains a lot of glutamine, an amino acid that has been shown to heal ulcers." His recommendation: Have at least one healthy serving of steamed cabbage each day for two weeks.

For temporary relief of gastric ulcer pain, nothing beats actived charcoal, says Agatha Thrash, M.D., a medical pathologist and co-founder and co-director of Uchee Pines Institute, a natural healing center in Seale, Alabama.

She suggests mixing two tablespoons of activated charcoal powder with a little water in the bottom of a tall glass (at least eight ounces). Continue stirring and adding water a little at a time until the glass is full, she says, drink it with a straw.

She says to follow the charcoal water with a glass of plain water. This treatment may be repeated hourly until pain subsides, she adds.

Hi bala,

It is possible for a homoeopathic remedy to cause what is known as an 'aggravation' - usually because the potency was not exactly right for you, or you have repeated the dosage beyond the point needed obtain the remedial result.

If a practitioner prescribed your homoeopathic, I suggest you contact him/her and discuss what's happening - he/she can then tailor advice to your needs. Homoeopath practitioners are usually open to 'update calls' from their clients as monitoring the symptom picture is critical to proper homoeopathic treatment.

If you have self-prescribed, the likeliest cause of the aggravation is that you have continued taking the remedy beyond the point where you needed to. Golden rule: take a homoeopathic remedy at the prescribed dosage until symptoms start to ease. At that point, the dosage should be stopped and the remedy given time to have its effect. If/when symptoms start turning back the other way again, it's time for another dose.
