Moms mad at me because of aderal!!?!

Question: Moms mad at me because of aderal!!?
So my grades have been slipping lately so i heard of this pill called vyvanse(aderal) and its for kids with ADD.so this kid told me he can get me some for 3 a piece.i took it at the beginning of school and it helped me alot! I wrote down all my notes, studies during study hall and participated in class.so at the end of the day i was like,i need these. So i decided to tell my sister and she said she takes aderal sometimes and she gets the same way.very accomplished.then i said ok i think im going to tell mom and she if she can get me to a doctors appointment so i can talk to him and tell him about my problem of paying attention in class. And tell him that my friend suggested it and he has the same problem. So anyway i tell my mom at dinner. Well she flipped **** on me and told me shes taking me to rehab??
I know she wont and going to rehab for popping one pill is kinda harsh.so then she said shes gunna call the school and have them talk to me and see where i got it from. I told my mom my friend gave it to me.so next i try to talk to her About it and she completely ignores me.she tells my dad that i dont live with.he calls me and i explain everything to him.he said he understands and hell talk to me more Bout it and hell check with the doctors office About getting me A app.so now im only worried about 1 thing. My mom threating to call the school. That would just about ruin my life if i get caught taking. Drug that wasnt prescribed to me at school. I cant sleep.and keep trying to figure out ways to talk to her. Someone please help me on this. Its ruining me.

I can't imagine any chemical dependency rehabilitation willing to even accept you. You have not met any criteria for substance abuse (aka "harmful use") or substance dependence (aka "dependence syndrome" or addiction).

Your mother is overreacting to the fact you tried Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine)- also Vyvanse is NOT the same as Adderall (mixed amphetamine salts) although they are extremely similar- but you have to try to understand that it can be very scary for a parent to hear their child took an amphetamine. Vyvanse breaks down into dextroamphetamine, which produces the drugs effects and dextroamphetamine is "speed." Not to mention that you and your friend both broke the law.

Try to sit down with your mum when she is in a good mood and explain to her, in this order, in short, exact sentences 1) the facts of why you took the medication 2) What your feelings/emotions are about taking the medication and her reaction 3) Tell her what exactly you would like to happen. Also make sure to apologize to her. You need to make the point that you took the medication, more/less, out of desperation due to your grades. You might want to write down the points you want to make to her and if you need to you might read from the paper you wrote.

You might also try to see if she will take you to a psychiatrist because you can be evaluated for ADHD and you and your mother can talk about this issue and the doctor will be able to provide a professional, objective view.

Congratulations. Out of all the possible mistakes teenagers can make, you made yours (a) for the right reason, (b) with decent results, and (c) with material not likely to cause any negative long term consequences. That said, it *was* illegal.

Ironically, your mom's going to create MORE trouble for you and your post-school life if she contacts the school about this. It's something that, once started, isn't going to stop until it's on your permanent record. The administrators will have no choice but to investigate and eventually contact the authorities. A paper trail is the last thing you need, what with college application committees and job recruiters on your horizon.

I take adderall on prescription, but you have to understand its a popularly abused drug. Rehab is obviously taking it too far, but you should've approached your mom and doc before trying it yourself. You were wrong, but hey people f up and I'm sorry its having such an impact on you relationship with your mom. As for dealing with the situation yourself, I don't know you or your mom so that one's your responsibility.

You need to go to rehab NEVER take medicine from anyone but parents.
