It makes the healer a lot of money, other than that nothing.

The story of Reiki, have been shrouded by myth and fable for decades. Much research has been undertaken to discern the true roots of the beautiful Reiki tradition. Reiki is an ever evolving, flexible and creative form of growth, relaxation and development. Practicing Reiki helps create harmony in the body, giving a deep sense of peace and relaxation.

The Reiki system is not the only factor that determines how the body is attuned to the Reiki energy. The person giving a Reiki treatment also receives the healing effect of the energy as it flows through them.

Reiki is a 'therapy' where the practitioner uses their palms to transfer alleged 'Ki' (healing energy) to the patient. I say 'alleged' because healing energy has never been shown to exist and is totally implausible. Like all quackery, clinical trials of Reiki have been small, badly designed, lacked appropriate control groups, or had other issues that affected how meaningful the results were. There is NO valid evidence that Reiki works for any condition.

In fact a 2008 systematic review of Reiki clinical trials concluded that efficacy had not been demonstrated for any condition, and a 2009 review found that "the serious methodological and reporting limitations of limited existing Reiki studies preclude a definitive conclusion on its effectiveness."

So when some Reiki true believer presents you with long list of so-called clinical trials to support Reiki, you'll know they aren't worth the paper they are written on.

Reports of positive effects from Reiki may be put down to placebo effect, cognitive error, logical fallacies and/or fraud.

How does reiki healing work?: The practitioner channels energy from their hand into their patients using a variety of different hand posititions with the intention that the energy flows to where it is needed most.

I hope this helps. Contrary to what some people may think, reiki does have notable healing benefits when it comes to alleviating the effects of stress, anxiety, depression and pain conditions which have nothing to do with the placebo effect whatsoever (this has been proven through scientific clinical trials). Don't listen to people who rubbish reiki as they have no idea what they are talking about. Do your own research before listening to others.

See http://www.centerforreikiresearch.org/ for more information. You can set up an account (it is free) to see the studies. The best way to learn about reiki is to experience it for yourself from a qualified and registered practitioner.

Hope this info helps.
Best of luck.

Quacks use an unmeasurable, undefined "energy" to heal you. You will feel placebo effect.

It doesn't.

There are actually many controlled studies that show that Reki is effective in th treatment of a variety of conditions. I, personally, have had life saving results from Reiki healing and have helped many clients to have relief from a variety of conditions.

How it works, a properly trained and attuned practitioner, channels healing energy and lays their hands on or over specific energy centers in the body. This helps to awaken the natural healing abilities of the body to help the body heal naturally. It also brings relaxation and gives the body a momentary break from stresses that slow the healing process.

Reiki works, I would not be alive today without it.
