Does exposure to natural light help eliminate nighttime insomnia?!

Question: Does exposure to natural light help eliminate nighttime insomnia?
My bedroom is dark. My house has poor natural light. I get tired and take 'cat naps' all during the day but have a lot of difficulty sleeping throughout the night. I'm not tired in the morning but poop out during the day.

I don't think that natural light at nighttime (moonlight) makes any difference. I would say the darker the better. I think the science is pretty nailed on that you need some sun exposure during the day for general health and production of vitimin D

My main point about your question is the CatNaps. I'm a big fan of napping. If I get a chance to nap during the day I find I sleep better at night. I love an after work nap of around 45 minutes. Unfortunately that now lands in the middle of my time to play with my son so that nap is a distant memory but I'll still sneak in the odd lunchtime nap if it's all possible.

NAPS are for the win!!!

It is mainly light at the blue end of the spectrum that stimulates you to stay awake. Poor lighting in the home is normally shifted to the red end, which won't help. Either try to get more sunlight in, or get a blue tinted light bulb and use it in a table lamp or something to restore more blue light.

Without a good hour of natural light sometimes people

develop Seasonal Effective Disorder, or S.A.D.

And if you sleep during the day you might be getting all the sleep you need then.

So become awake at nighttime because of the daytime sleeping.

Hope that helps.
