I'm so sorry you've only gotten such negative responses from the skeptics... sometimes they post links that give the opposite response to what well intentioned people (like yourself) are asking for.
Alternative Medicine is a VERY broad category that you may want to narrow down a bit more... there's nutritional supplements (eg. herbs and vitamins), Chiropractic (and massage is sometimes grouped with it), Homeopathy, Reiki (and similar energy healing practices), Yoga, and many other practices and treatments. Once you have it narrowed down more, you'll be able to find many websites that accurately tell the benefits, deficits, and even attacks against that medicine or practice.

Unfortunately, there are many people who are skeptical of numerous "Alternative Medicines" and there are several that frequent this section... I'm willing to bet I'll get several thumbs down for telling you the truth on this, too. Here are a few options to get you started, though:
http://www.naturalproductsinfo.org/ (basic information about supplements, quality requirements, and other industry information)
http://www.Drugs.com (the main drug reference site that lists all the side effects, uses, etc for both OTC and prescription drugs)
http://knol.google.com/k/dr-nancy-malik-… (scientific research on Homeopathy)
http://www.sott.net/articles/show/215997… (an interesting article about how drug companies often finance their own studies and may skew the results)
http://abc.herbalgram.org/ (American Botanical Society... there's LOTS of information about herbs here)
http://www.lef.org/ and http://www.mercola.com are two good reference websites, but they also sell products (which are HUGELY overpriced so I would never use these for anything other than surface level research
Wiki is probably not an option for sources, but it does have citation links that you may be able to use... be aware that most of the "Alternative Medicine" articles there have bias from both sides so you'll see many "pro" and many "anti" statements and citations on those pages.

Look over some of those and see if any of them tickle your fancy enough that you may want to do a speech on the subject. Good luck and I hope I helped!

Personal experience in searching for similar information and personal research in my role as a Product Specialist for a vitamin company (I use several of these herbal and supplement websites for research)

Herbal medicine is pretty much the only "alternative" that has any effect, but they're largely untested. Everything else is focused around undetectable energies that may as well be called magic.

Trick or Treatment is a good book.

Maybe it would be a good idea to structure your speech like "Top ten things you should know about alternative medicine". Here is a link for inspiration: http://www.skeptic.com/downloads/Alterna…

I would be inclined to start with Dara

Remember, there is medicine and then there is the alternative to it.

Mike Fumento's website (www.fumento.com) has some interesting forays into the shyster alternative(s to) medicine scam industry. Beyond that, Quackwatch and Snopes.com should provide everything you need.

You must read Trick or Treatment by Simon Singh
