Nope! It's generally advised that infants not be given water at all until at least 6 mos. old. They're getting plenty of fluids breastfeeding (or with formula.) Give water can dampen the hunger drive and baby will eat less than she should.

Over 6 months old, babies can have water. But I still wouldn't advise "alkaline water" or mineral water (note: remineralized reverse-osmosis filtered water is NOT the same as mineral water.)

Is mineral water or alkalized water "safe" for adults? Sure. But it has no major health benefits, is not necessary at all, and can be stupid expensive.

Your body controls your acid/base balance very tightly in different compartments, and the best buffers your body has are your kidneys and your lungs. While you cant affect kidney function much, you CAN do some deep breathing every day with long slow exhales (exhale longer than inhale.) It's a good way to facilitate these NATURAL mechanisms your body has for maintaining proper pH balance. The other benefits to deep breathing are numerous. There are no negative side effects (within the bounds of reasonable breathing.)... and it's FREE! :)

No.

It's also a bad idea to get him hooked on homopathic scams such as "alkaline body pH".

it's not even safe for an adult.
