Do I have Serotonin Syndrome? Or am i working myself up?!

Question: Do I have Serotonin Syndrome? Or am i working myself up?
I took some powder from inositol to help with my OCD. I have not been taking anything else and only had one dose. I took just one tablespoons worth mixed into some water. I had stomach problems a bit later, prolly 2ish hours. Then i just had some general not feeling good moments I guess. I had a hard time going to sleep and when I woke up it still feels a bit weird. I dont have the stomach problems anymore but it does feel like my body is just off. From reading the symptoms I dont know if I'm starting to go into Serotonin Syndrome or if I am just working myself up with anxiety and getting symptoms that way or even just adjusting to having something foreign in my system.

Answers:

It's HIGHLY unlikely to develop serotonin syndrome with a single dose of anything... even MAOI's, which are the most common cause, it takes a lot more than a single dose to create that kind of excess.

Inositol is a precursor molecule for serotonin (and other neurotransmitter) production. It can improve normal serotonin cycling and has other beneficial effects on "brain function." But it will not artificially increase serotonin levels the way, for example, SSRIs or even St. Johns Wort can. There's no risk of serotonin syndrome with inositol supplementation alone and therapeutic dose can go as high as 12g inositol daily with no adverse reactions.
