What kind of doctor is this?!

Question: What kind of doctor is this?
Well I want to be a doctor when I am older but i don't know what kind. Like, I want to be a kind of doctor that you go to if you feel sick or something, and then i'll be like "i'm sorry sir, you have swine flu" or something like that lol. not a family doctor.. but i'm not really sure. can you suggest types of doctors that i would like? thanks a lot :)

A specialist in infectious disease (ID) perhaps? That is a specialist that deals with, obviously, infection especially more complex and serious infection. However ID is typically a sub-speciality meaning a person has to be first certified in internal medicine or paediatrics (ie general doctors) and then will undergo more training.

Emergency Medicine is certainly a field were people come in with an acute problem which may be very serious. This is a very fast paced, instant gratification, speciality.

Typically it is doctors who are in internal medicine, family medicine, or paediatrics that deal with what you are describing. Other specialities you may like can include Clinical Immunology and Allergy or Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases.
