Has anyone had any sucess seeing a nautropath about fatigue?!

Question: Has anyone had any sucess seeing a nautropath about fatigue?
I have suffered with fatigue for a few years now, nothing seems to be helping and when I bring it up with my Dr's they usually send me in for a blood test (that always come back clear) or they try and get out of me that I could be depressed, which I certainly am not.
I do have a chronic disease (Crohns disease) which can cause fatigue but I get no other real symptoms from it so I cant just put it down to that.

So has anyone else been to see a nautropath about fatigue and had success?

Naturopaths are quacks; naturopathy is a sham discipline. It's based on the false pretext of the human body always being able to heal itself. This phony pretense is designed to appeal to peoples' laziness, as it suggests that they can be responsible about their health while sitting back and doing absolutely nothing to advance it.

Think about it- if the human body were the organic equivalent of the T100, nobody would ever die of cancer, diabetes-related complications, heart disease, strokes, AIDS, blood loss, hypoxia, rabies and/or decapitation.

If the doctors don't know, then the answer won't come from a less qualified herb seller who lacks access to diagnostic tests and makes sympathetic noises while selling you a few ounces of chicory extract for an over-inflated fee.

Anecdotes from someone whose symptoms improval coincided with a visit to a naturopath is not the sort of fake confirmation you need either.

Read Michelle's post again and tell us why that might not be the reason you're tired.

I assume you had tests on thyroid hormones and iron. But what about DHEA hormone? look up adrenal fatigue.
Crohn's disease treated with cortisone daily might cause in return an increase in interleukine-6
and Cortisol is always elevated. This is the same blood condition as in depression destroying the quality of sleep. That is why DHEA is important because it has a zenith at sleep time. But there are more circadian rhythms affected by high IL-6. My suggestion is to visit an endocrinologist.

You've just answered yourself about the cause of your fatigue then dismissed it, what a peculiar thing to do.

I think you need to be more honest with yourself and stop looking to alt-med charlatans to back you up. I'm sure you will find visiting a naturopath more satisfying than a real doctors visit because they will make up for their lack of clinical knowledge with a great and time consuming interview. Asking all sorts of irrelevant questions so they can treat you "holistically".

You have a serious condition, accept this and treat it seriously. Don't start messing about with these jokers.

Edit

Alt-med charlatans will fleece you because they have little or no medical training and have no proof for the ridiculous claims they make. If you give up on the entire medical profession you could end up in serious trouble.

Your implication that I want you to suffer is offensive and just plain wrong. I'm trying to guide you away from these cheating or deluded imbeciles.

I have never consulted one of these fools because I know the science just doesn't back up their claims. I have had the misfortune of being friends with a number of alt-med types and found their callous disregard for the consequences of their ignorance despicable.

Some causes of chronic fatigue include other than Crohn's:

Autoimmune diseases such as celiac disease, multiple sclerosis, and spondyloarthropathy
Blood disorders such as anemia and hemochromatosis
Cancer
Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS)
Drug abuse
Depression and other mental disorders that feature depressed mood
Eating disorders, which can produce fatigue due to inadequate nutrition
Endocrine disease like diabetes mellitus and hypothyroidism
Fibromyalgia
Heart disease
Infectious diseases such as infectious mononucleosis and influenza
Leukemia or lymphoma
Neurological disorders such as Parkinson's disease and post-concussion syndrome
Physical trauma and other pain-causing conditions, such as arthritis
Sleep deprivation or sleep disorders
Uremia
Hepatic failure

These are conditions that you do NOT want to put into the hands of some 'naturopath' who probably hasn't even heard of most of them. The best you will get from naturopathy is good nutrition advice and perhaps a placebo effect. Their magic water, herbal concoctions, chakra balancing, energy unblocking, colon cleansing and crystal waving are otherwise going to do diddly-squat.

If you are unsatisfied with your current doctor, then see another. Seek out a specialist. But don't throw money at people who can only offer false hope.

I've never seen a naturopath myself, but I've studied their methods a bit and generally approve of them more than that of a regular MD's. They'll literally boil every problem you have down to it's most basic cause, such as lack of exercise or high blood pressure. Naturopathy revolves around the basis that the body is able to heal itself without the aid of drugs, and I find that much more useful in today's pharmacy-pumped society. If you can afford it, I think it'd be worth a visit.

People with Crohn's disease often need to take B12 supplements to treat an existing deficiency as well as to avoid developing a deficiency in the future. The most common symptom of low vitamin B12 levels is fatigue. A very effective method to boost vitamin B12 levels is sublingually (under the tongue) - available in lozengers, drops or sprays.
