All of these are useful for hair growth for reasons below - but it is probably not necessary to take them separately:
All of the B vitamins work together in the synthesis of new tissue.
In particular, the following are involved to a great extent in generating hair cells:
B1 (thiamine)
B3 (niacin)
B5 (pantothenic acid)
B7 (biotin)
B12 (cobalamins)
These can all be taken as a B-Complex
Vit C aids in the synthesis of collagen (hair follicle), and
Vit E is important for many things, including promoting blood flow to the scalp.
Useful minerals that affect hair include iodine, manganese, and zinc
Many folks also use a complex of amino acids, but these are probably useless as a supplement, since, as long as you are eating decently, you get these in most protein-containing foods.
I don't see any documented benefit in specific citamin sources, such as kelp, fish oil, etc.
As long a it is a good quality product, with good bioavailability (absorbtion, etc.), it should be fine.
So, in summary, if you can get the above vitamins and minerals in a single high-quality supplement at the pharmacy, at a minimum of 1 to 2 times the RDA, that would be best. Otherwise, you should be able to find a combination of no more than 2 or 3 supplements that contain what you need.
Hope that helps

Yes, it is safe to take them all together, I would suggest if you take a multivitamin/mineral you find one that does not have iron in it. If you are a complete vegetarian, you need to make sure especially if you take folic acid, you take your B-12 with it, the amounts of folic acid over the counter are a joke, a doctor can give you a script for 5 mg folic acid, which would cost you a fortune to get that much without a perscription, you can get it from leafy greens. I took the amino acid L-tryptophan, for another reason, my hair grows about a half an inch a year, and for some reason, the first 10 days my hair grew about 10 inches, then it didn't make it grow anymore. If you live in Canada, you can still buy the 1 or 5 mg folic acid over the counter. Just not in the US.
