Chinese Medicine/NaturopathicCareers?!

Question: Chinese Medicine/NaturopathicCareers?
I am currently half way through getting my masters degree. I scored a 38 on the MCAT, I have a 3.75 sGPA and a 3.9 cGPA. I should be applying for medical school later this year, but I am not quite sure if that is the route I truly want to take. I am more interested in holistic medicine and would much rather do something that is connected to the mind, body, and soul. Are there any careers out there like this that also pay well?

Answers:

You may be interested in becoming an osteopathic physician. Both DO's and MD's receive equivalent training, and are considered equivalent physicians for all medical procedures in the United States.

A main difference in the DO curriculum is the inclusion of manipulation techniques. Basically you learn how to do cool stuff with your hands. DO schools often have more of an emphasis on a holistic approach to health.

*Edit* I would also stay away from the "alternative"medicine.
What do they call alternative medicine that works? Medicine.

Conventional medicine IS by nature holistic. And it is not only critical towards alternative (to) medicine. It is also very critical towards itself, and it is self correcting. When better evidence emerges, its practices change.

Practitioners of various kinds of alternative (to) medicine stubbornly refuse to step out of their boxes, and absorb new knowledge.

In all fairness naturopathy has something in common with conventional medicine. The preventive lifestyle advocated by naturopathy is consonant with recommendations of conventional medicine (but more elaborate though).

to do medical degree or want be dr you got to want to with every beat of heart so if you feel it not for you then do not do it,or you be miserable as sin

Well, the lead story when I signed into Yahoo was Top 10 careers that are headed down the toilet, never to return....

Alternative medicine practioners was number four, I believe....

Don't shoot the messenger

Generally MLMs or pyramid schemes are the way to go. With a lot of luck you will be selling things that don't actually cause any harm.

That would be a horrible waste of your (very expensive) college career. Surely you understand that alt -meds such as these are just unproven, sometimes dangerous scams?
