I feel sick every morning? help please?!

Question: I feel sick every morning? help please?
I'm 15 years old. I feel nauseous every morning when i wake up to go to school i try to make myself eat in the morning but i just cant because it feels like im going to puke even the smell of food makes me sick. i feel very weak when i don't eat in the morning like tired and lazy. I haven't been to the doctors in about 8 months and when i did go it was because i use to have really bad headaches. When my mom comes to pick me up in the morning that's when it gets really bad i feel like im going to have a panic attack. when i'm in class it gets a little better but i still feel sick and then i start getting really hungry. i have notice i get panic attacks when im going out to places like school, mall, movies, restaurants etc. my heart begins to race and i feel like i want to cry. when i tell my mom she just looks at me like im crazy and gets mad because i don't want to go in a store by myself. this has been happening for a long time and i hate it.

I really want to ask my mom if i can go to the doctors and ask for a medical card for marijuana. but im scared that she well say no and think im just making this all up but im really not. can i even get one if im 15? And is this a good reason to ask for one? I live in california by the way

Hi Sarah,

The most likely reason for your nausea is stress. You can stress during the night, as your brain processes things that happen to you. So, whatever bothers you is running around your brain during the night. You need to treat the stress and anxiety. Medical marijuana is not the answer.

You need to do two things - get to the bottom of what is bothering you (counselling), and start treating the stress and anxiety. Don't go down the road of pharmaceuticals as they suppress the problem and in the long run make it worse.

Some counsellors are very good. They help you track down whatever is bothering you and then help you deal with it - find coping or release mechanisms.

The problem is that you have probably got to the point where this has built up and you are having difficulty coping every day. So, you do need to treat this. It is probably best to go to a good Naturopath. However, you can get Valerian (liquid form is best) or Passiflora at the health food store. There are other natural products that others recommend, but I know nothing about them. Valerian works brilliantly for me. As a suggestion, try a few drops about 5 or 6 pm, again after dinner, and then just before you go to bed. This should start to improve your stress while you sleep. This is very good because you need the restful sleep to rejuvenate. Stress is cummulative, so left alone it just coninutes to get worse and worse. And you can end up with all sorts of annoying or debilitating health problems in the long term. Already, this is creating some big problems for you.

The Valerian will help with the anxiety. In the beginning, you may want to take a little in the morning as well.

Medical marijuana is great for people who have untreatable pain and probably a few other uses, but it is not a long-term solution for stress.

I also suggest you get into Yoga and Meditation. These are wonderful practices to adopt for your entire life. They are great for health, mental calm, and being at peace with yourself. And the last could be a source of your anxiety. Classes would be very good for you. And you can do it by yourself in between classes.

I've been where you are and suffered it for too many years without knowing what was wrong. I hope you get some good help in coping with this.

Take care xo

You have two choices:

1. Tell your mother the truth and ask to see a doctor ASAP (if she doesn't let you, tell someone else close to you, even one of your friends.)
2. Tell your mother you want to go for a checkup at the doctor's and then refer to the doctor when you get there.

The first one is better, but both are ok.
