What is the difference between anti gas pills and laxatives?!

Question: What is the difference between anti gas pills and laxatives?
Someone told me to take laxatives for weight loss. First, is this safe and what are any side effects? Second, I always just though laxatives were gas pills, are they the same thing? What's the difference? Would they do the same thing for weight loss?

laxatives make you crap

my 3 year old no's this

Simeticone is available OTC to break up gas to relieve pressure. Other OTC products provide enzymes to help metabolize beans or dairy products. Most laxatives are either fiber supplements or stimulants which encourage peristaltic action in the bowels to move waste through more quickly. There are also products which interfere with the metabolism of fats so that they move through undigested (they may cause some discomfort). Laxatives for weight control might have some benefits but these would probably be offset by decreased nutrient uptake. A high fiber, low fat diet is certainly a healthful approach. For significant, lasting weight loss, exercise is valuable as it not only burns calories but also speeds metabolism and builds muscle mass to burn calories more rapidly even when at rest.

To answer your question

Laxative usually contain some medical or herbal ingredients to help your elimination
Gas Pills usually contain some form of charcoal derivative

Gas pills won't make you crap yourself.
