Which is better to quit smoking?!

Question: Which is better to quit smoking?
Is it more effective to use the patch or the gum? I can't take the pill perscribed by the doctor because it makes me weeze.

I got the gum, but didn't like the flavor, so I'd go with the patch. The patch is invisible and chewing gum may not always be appropriate.

depends on your smoking habits. the gum allows you to only use it when you have a craving while the patch administers nicotine evenly throughout the day. also, with the gum, it says not to eat or drink anything within 15 minutes of using, so if you smoke while drinking alcohol or right after eating, it may not be for you. the patch however does not help with your "habit" of smoking. the craving for nicotine may be helped but the habit still needs to be addressed.
good luck.

With gum you are better able to distribute how much nicotine you absorb into your body by how much you chew and swallow saliva plus it even tastes like a cigarette which I consider a plus (reminds you that your now getting nicotine and things will get better if you keep on chewing) which may help calm your nerves. The patch might be more convenient if you don't like chewing gum but you have to quit cold turkey if you use the patch.

I quit smoking after 20+ years by switching to a cigarette without additives, and by waiting for the craving to build.

Finally smoking after waiting a few hours I began to notice how tired and drained the effect had on me, and spent that moment considering the downside: how I was poisoning myself, draining my energy, wasting my money, and feeling like a slave to the addiction.

So, what worked best for me was a physical-mental combination to associate smoking with the negatives instead of continuing to believe it gave me any relief at all.

Smoke free since 2008.

I quit using the patch. The gum gave me really bad heartburn - and there was simply too much nicotine in each piece (heart would start racing, get anxious, etc), even with the low dose variety, and between pieces I wanted to smoke, but you are only supposed to chew so many a day - - so patches it was for me. There is a lot of variance between brands I found. The Nicoderm worked well for me - - if you see a store brand manufactured by Alza, those are the same. (Target store brand, those are made by them - - if you live in the states I would try those)
